Types of Duties Involved

Caring for children

Help in carrying out light housework, eg dusting, vacuuming, ironing

Simple cooking

Driving - whilst this is not necessary, for most families it is a useful skill to have. You would need an international Driving Licence.

Hours of Working and Free Time

This is dependant on the arrangement made with the Host Family. Please remember that flexibility and mutual respect resolves most issues. The following are the standard options available:

Free Time

Must be made available to the Au Pair daily to study or to do what they want. Two days off a week is expected and any evening when there is no planned baby sitting.

Additional arrangements can be made between the Au Pair and the Host Family for extra baby sitting and extra hours during school holidays.

Remember that being an Au Pair is not a holiday. You are being paid to help around the house and care for the children.
